Overview
pitandsear is an informational website. We collect as little as we can get away with, we do not sell personal information, and we do not build advertising profiles of visitors.
What we collect
Nothing you type stays here. The diagnostic tools on this site run entirely in your browser. The Grill Doctor, the doneness calculator and the contact form do not transmit your answers anywhere and nothing is stored on your device.
Newsletter. If you submit an email address to the newsletter, that address is used to send the newsletter and nothing else. You can unsubscribe from any message.
Server logs and analytics. Like most websites, our host records standard request information such as IP address, browser type and the page requested. If aggregate analytics are used, they are used to understand which pages are read, not to identify individuals.
Affiliate links
Product links on this site point to Amazon and carry an affiliate tag. When you follow one, Amazon may set cookies and collect information according to its own privacy policy, over which we have no control. We do not receive any personal information about you from Amazon — only aggregate reporting about whether purchases occurred. See our affiliate disclosure for the commercial detail.
Cookies
This site does not set advertising or tracking cookies of its own. Third parties you reach by following an outbound link may set their own cookies, and their policies apply once you leave.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you. In practice, the only personal information we are likely to hold is a newsletter subscription. Write to info@pitandsear.com and we will action it.
